Family Engagement
Parent involvement is key to helping student’s achieve their academic goals, which is why all families are required to participate a minimum of 10 hours yearly. Families participate through the various events, workshops and celebrations throughout the school year. As a full service community school and the winner of 2013-2014 RIASCD Whole Child Award, we work in collaboration with local community organizations, agencies and departments to diminish the barriers that may prevent a child from academic success.
We work to empower and educate our families with our Adult Education programs, which consist of English, Computer and Nutrition classes. With the support of our Family Engagement Committee, Segue supports community members in need through our S.H.A.R.E (SEGUE HOLIDAY AND RESOURCES FOR EVERYONE) PROGRAM. This program supports students and families with uniforms, school supplies, family loss, clothing and access to our food pantry. Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays and our Thanksgiving Food Drive Programs are staples of this program.

Segue recognizes that many families face obstacles in participating in their child’s education, due to language and educational barriers. Providing families with literacy and comprehension skills is crucial to increased involvement in their child’s education and school community.
We understand the need for Adult Education classes in English, Spanish, literacy, computers, and wellness. Offering these opportunities, will help increase participation of families in school related events and activities, which will therefore contribute to an increase in student achievement. Language classes will increase communication between families and educators, creating a better understanding of what their child is learning and how to support their child's learning at home.
Segue offers families several educational opportunities throughout the school year. Please contact the school for more information.
