Student Opportunities Coordinator
As the Student Opportunities Coordinator, my focus is on Segue scholars personal development, academic success and upper secondary planning. I work towards this goal by facilitating Segue’s Comprehensive Advisory Program, meeting with students and families to discuss high school options and plans, monitoring student’s academic progress, and advocating for students.
We have established a High School Prep plan and an Advisory Program. The programs ensure that students are developing valuable skills and that they are getting information that foster educated decision making about high school. The following is what you can expect from each:
v High School Prep and Placement Plan- (7th and 8th grade only)
Educational statistics show that over one third of all students who drop out of school, dropout in the ninth grade. A cause for dropping out is the anxiety and confusion students develop upon entering 9th grade. Students who segue into high school without guidance are unaware of high school expectations. Therefore, we developed a plan to prepare our students who are entering 9th grade and also to make students and families aware of the many high school options that are available.
